This site is dedicated to the memory of  Marine Richard Hollington, Royal Marines Commando who died, of wounds received on 12 Jun 2010 during Operation Herrick 12 in Afghanistan, on 20 June 2010 in New Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He was the 300th serviceman to die on operations in Afghanistan since 2001. It is also dedicated to the other members of the 40 Commando “14″ who left parade early and are now mustering at the bar of the final RV, and in particular Marine Steven Birdsall, Royal Marines Commando, who was in the same section as Rich, got hurt the very next day and came home in the same plane with Rich.  Of course we do not forget the other Royal Marines and indeed other servicemen who have died in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia Iraq, Northern Ireland, The Falklands, Aden, Suez….. need we go on

However, this site is also about a golf tournament, organised by Richard’s mates on a course when they used to play whenever they got the chance.  12 July 2013 sees the fourth running of the event.  The purpose is to have a great day of golf and raise a glass to Rich and at the same time raise a bit of cash for charity.  So far about £15,000 has been raised from the three days so far, and a total of over £250,000 from all fundraising activities in Richard’s memory.

In the meantime, thanks to Luke and Craig who have taken on responsibility for organising the event this year…
